The Basic Steps to Composting

You can help organic matter decompose quicker if you learn the process of composting. The steps to composting are not complicated and anyone can learn this form of recycling. There are two basic composting methods. Those methods are the hot method or the cold method. The easier method is the cold method. The steps to composting for this method are quite simple. Just leave the pile alone to let it rot.

You can add materials to this compost pile such as leaves, grass and fruit and vegetable scraps. This method takes longer because you are not really doing anything to help decompose the pile faster. The hot method is more precise in its method. Some have stated that first you place the green leaves then add soil, then add the kitchen waste. You need to keep the pile moist. Not completely wet, but moist. You should not neglect your compost pile.

The steps to composting are important in this method. In addition to keeping it moist, you should add ingredients and soil to the pile. You need to turn the pile at least once a week as well to help with the decomposition. This allows the air to circulate and it will make the process move along quicker. When your compost pile looks and smells like earth then it is likely ready to be applied to your garden.

The steps to composting are now complete, once the compost is added to the garden. Composting is recycling nature's products. It is a great way to help contribute to recycling. You do not need to live in a rural setting or have a yard to consider composting. There is urban compost containers designed for people who live in the city as well. The steps to composting are not difficult.

Just make sure that you follow the steps completely and you will enjoy success with your composting.
